Hello, my name is Devin Wintermyer. I am so blessed to have the privilege to be the Senior Pastor here at New Beginnings Church in Punxsutawney, PA. I began ministering here in June of 2016. I moved here from MD, along with my wife, Joanne, and two daughters, Eliana and Jolena. However, my wife and I are native Pennsylvanians. I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, and my wife was born and raised in Howard, PA. We ministered in TX and FL for 15 years before moving to MD and now back to PA. So it's nice to finally be back home in Steeler's Country. Yes, I am a fan of all teams Black & Gold.
Although I attended church as a child, I did not fully embrace Jesus as my Lord and Savior until the age of 15. God ministered to me one night while I was watching a baseball game between the Pirates and the Padres on the West Coast. That night I gave my life to Jesus, and I have never been the same since.
During high school, I had intentions of going into accounting, but during my senior year, God made it clear that He had different plans for me. He opened the door for me to attend Valley Forge Bible College, from which I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree. I have since received my Master's Degree in Theology, and am currently working on my Doctorate.
Being in full-time ministry has been an amazing journey. I have ministered in the roles of Children's Pastor, Youth Pastor, Executive Pastor, Business Administrative Pastor, Campus Pastor, and Senior Pastor, and at times wore several of those hats all at once. I am currently loving my role as the Senior Pastor here at New Beginnings Church in Punxsutawney, PA, and am so blessed that God called me to come here.
I am super excited about what God has in store for New Beginnings Church. I know that God is doing and going to continue to do great things here. I hope that you will come visit us some day. Come in, shake my hand, and let's get to know one another.
My personal mission statement is this: Jesus wants to be our personal Savior, so it makes sense that if we want to introduce others to Jesus, we need to get to know one another on a personal level to win the right to introduce them to Jesus.
When you visit, please know that it is my deep, deep desire to get to know you, your family, and what I can do to be the best Pastor I can be for you. I hope to see you soon!
Have a blessed day!
Pastor Devin Wintermyer
CARING for Each Person
Each person is ABSOLUTELY special because God created them with a plan and a purpose. God's desire is for every single person to go to heaven, that is why He sent Jesus. It is our desire to make sure EVERYONE who comes to First Assembly can feel that we care about you in as many ways as we can, because that is what Jesus does!
CONNECTING Each Story
Everyone has a story to tell and needs to be able to tell it and to have someone listen to their story. Jesus came to earth to connect with the human story and we want you to know that we want to connect with your story. Everyone's story is important and can be the key to unlocking all that God has for you in your life or helping do that in someone else's life!
CELEBRATING Each Miracle
Jesus has so many promises in the Bible and Jesus wants to bless you in so many ways. We believe that all the gifts God gave us are still alive and well today and we want to Celebrate all that God is doing. We also believe that there are no big or small miracles. Just AMAZING things God does and we believe He does them everyday, why not! Sometimes what we think is little is amazing to someone else, because God is in the business of doing the amazing! We want to celebrate them and celebrate what Jesus can and will do for you! When we get to heaven, we will celebrate for all eternity - why not start now!
About Our Name:
Hello and welcome to New Beginnings Church. We believe that God is always doing something new and exciting. We can't wait to see what God will do next. We believe that God wants everyone to have new beginnings. It is the reason Jesus came, to save us and give us a new beginning for our lives. Our name says new beginnings because we believe that those new beginnings are not just limited to salvation but new beginnings with friends, relationships, finances, family, and so much more!
About Our Logo:
One may ask, why is there a plant in between the “N” and the “B” on our logo? Isaiah 53 is all about Jesus and what He would do. In Isaiah 53:2, Jesus describes Himself as a tender plant. The plant represents Jesus and what He came to do. He came to give us many things, including the following:
|
Life - In I Corinthians, Paul compares the resurrection of the Christians to a new plant coming from a seed. Jesus wants you to have a great life, but also know that you will have life eternal that will be amazing. |
|
Joy - When a plant first sprouts, the farmer rejoices. God wants you to not just have life, but to have a life filled with happiness. Jesus does not want you to have to wait until heaven to experience him, but for you to experience Him on earth in an amazing way. |
|
Hope - The farmer is also full of hope that a harvest will soon be produced. Jesus has a plan for you to make you great and to give you a great harvest! He is there to take care of you and always be there when you need Him. Sometimes a storm can come and wreck the plants. With Jesus, there is nothing that can stop the plans He has for you! |
|
Love - The plant is described as tender. Jesus' love is very tender, just like this plant. Love has to be tender. True love is giving all of yourself away to someone else, knowing that they may not return that love which could crush you. Jesus says that He loves you no matter what you have done, and that will never change. However, nothing can change the fact that He loves you. No one can stomp that love out. All you have to do is accept it and Jesus accepts you! |
About why the plant is inside the letters:
Many people want to have a new beginning in life and then they fail. They try again and fail again. Then eventually, they stop trying and wonder if it is worth it. The reason why the symbol is this way is because, in order to have a new beginning that lasts, you must have Jesus. You must not only believe in Jesus, but have Jesus woven into your life. The plant is woven into the letters to express this concept. We need to let Jesus be woven into every aspect of our life. When we allow that to happen, we become one with Jesus in all we do. That is what will make your new beginnings and all that comes after them, successful for your entire journey.
